If you love art cars, you’re familiar with Kelly Israel’s cool cars that hang out in front of the bar on Decatur Street in New Orleans. I’ve posted about him before: I send him packages of stuff—old jewelry, coins, watches, beads—whenever I come across something I think he might be able to use. I got a note from him today, and he’s working on his house, which will be totally mosaic-covered—and cars; and it’s OK for me to post his address for donations. So if you’re doing spring cleaning and come across a box of little plastic soldiers or a bag of earrings or a ton of beads—just pretty much anything he might be able to superglue on a car—send them to:

Kelly’s a sweetie. Help him out with anything you want to donate—I’m sure actual money would help, too-- and tell him Ricë said hi!

wow, talk about a memory jog! years ago someone took me to see this crazy mosaic house here in albuquerque. and turns out it's only about 5 minutes from where i live. i've only been to see it a couple of times, and not recently. but the first time we drove by, it was truly a sight to behold. here's a link to it:
