My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Interview

Trish interviewed me a while back, and she’s put it up on her blog this morning. It was great fun—she asked some really thought-provoking questions, as you can see from my way-too-long responses. Thanks, Trish!

OK. It didn't take me but about 3 seconds to read your writing. And Trish's. I will be back. Soon.
Thanks for doing this.
PS: Is Voodoo Cafe anything like Bagdad Cafe? Just wondering...

Ricë, I loved the interview, those were good questions. Thank you for hitting the work and getting deeper aspect, and shopping. Focus seems likes a dirty word to a lot of people.

And I thought that I was the only one inspired by Native Funk & Flash. I still own it and just flipping though it takes me back to the good old days.

When I read this, since you said it was "a while back" I thought it was the interview I had already listened to. It wasn't until I read Roz's post today that I realized it might be a new one. And so it was, and great at that!

I'm going to tell you what I told Trish, "When I read #6 and#9 I felt like when you're in church and the preacher says something so relevant to what you're going through that you want to pipe up and say "You talkin to ME??"

A couple of years ago I quit working with clay and jewelry, dropped everything for a year, then discovered Danny Gregory, Roz, and you and returned to my first love, drawing. From there it was a quick hop over to a collage/mixed media/"journaling"/online workshops total-immersion-intensive for the past 5 months. I thought that by now I would have figured out what my medium would be, what the "thing" was I wanted to do, but I haven't and it's getting to me, and I'm thinking maybe it's photography, maybe it's videos.
All my life I've tried different things and never stuck with anything long enough to learn it really well and learn it in depth. I even named the blog I did not stick with "stone after stone" for that very reason!
I need to do some thinking. You can see why your interview resonated so strongly with me.
