Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

This Week’s Give-Away: A Little Handmade Travel Journal

Since we’re going to be heading out to Grapevine this weekend, I thought a Travel Journal would be appropriate.

1

I made this one years and years ago—I can’t even remember making it.

It has wrapping paper on the cover, which is kind of cheesy, but it looks cool, what with the map theme and all.

2

The pages are sewn in through the chamois-covered spine. Oh, that’s cool:  typing “chamois,” I remembered how, there at the beginning, I was all about the chamois for covering the spines. My dad made me some stuff out of chamois when I was a kid, and so it’s always been cool for me. Huh.

Anyway, the spine has wooden disks and beads, and there’s also a thread-and-button closure made out of the same pieces.

3

Not a lot of pages—it was designed for adding in photos and stuff you collect as you travel. I think the paper on the inside of the cover may be papyrus (which is, oddly, the name of this script).

So. If you’d like to document a journey, either external (out in the world) or internal (a journey inside your own imagination), post a comment and tell me about it. I’ll pick on Thursday this week, since we’re out of here on Friday.

Well, I have never posted for a journal but this one is so sweet! When we sell our home in New Mexico this summer (yes it will happen I am sure!) it would be so nice to have this darling little work of art to record in during our trip across the country to my homeland of Pennsylvania.

Can I just suck up here and tell you how much I love your blog? It's such a nice Artist Moment in the middle of my science geek day. Reminds me to live the life that I want while I am hanging in here working for benefits and tuition...
hey, and I'm heading to Savannah with my girlscout troop in a couple of weeks...a cool journal would sure take the edge off...

LIFE is a journey everyday!
But, really - we are driving to Ontario again this summer and this journal would be GREAT to catching little snippets that I wouldn't otherwise remember.
THANK YOU for offering it!!!

I could use a lovely journal like this to document the coming months as I transition from harried, stressed, elementary art teacher into a calm artist of leisure, enjoying the summer months. It is sure to be an wondrous journey!

Since I won't be traveling much this summer, I would like to "map" my thoughts about all the walking I've been doing. Thanks to your advice about walking everyday, I have been doing just that. I love it! Now I'm hooked. Can't wait to be slender like you.
Thanks,
Cissie
