My Photo
Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Hi! Hi! Hi!

Just a really quick note to say I’m here, albeit swamped and frazzled:  I’ve been without internet service for THREE FULL DAYS, with only a tiny window late Tuesday evening before the modem died. The new modem, supposed to be here within 24 hours, got stuck in Dallas and didn’t get here until almost 7 tonight.

To say “I’m behind” would be a laughable understatement. I’ll tell the sordid/boring/pathetic story (I hope) sometime this weekend.

it's only a modem, it's only a modem, it's only a modem.

telling you to relax and it's ok is true, but you're not having it, right?!

glad you're ok.

Sorry to hear about your modem woes, Rice! Did you every make the switch off of ClearWire or still mulling that over?

We just finished NetFlixing (doncha love that new verb?) TrueBlood Season 1. Interesting stuff!

i triple LOVE True Blood ;)

i've never been a vampire fan, never read anne rice, nada. but something in this series spoke to me. it really affected me on a real gut level, not sure why. although i managed to "calm down" midway thru the season, hee.

there's certainly lots of stuff in it i don't like, like gratuitous sex scenes involving the main character's brother. but it's got an interesting story line, the love story between sookie and bill is awesome, and the 2 main vamps (bill and eric) are hawt, LOL

try it, you'll like it ;)

and i've read, or at least skimmed, all 9 books. i purchased the first 7 by week 2 of season 1. what does that say about True Blood? what does that say about me?!!

:D

I got hooked on True Blood last season too and am looking forward to the new season. And those gratuitous sex scenes... yeah, *ahem* I really hate those too (hee hee).

I would read the books first. Charlaine Harris is the author. Friends who love the books prefer them, but still watch the series.

BTW are Earthlink or EV1 available in Midland?

oh no, don't get me wrong. most of the sex scenes, like between sookie and bill, are fine. the sex scenes with jason don't do much for me because they're so contrived and mechanical. although, i have to say, the actor playing jason certainly has a buff body, eh? hee ;)

personally, i'm looking forward to some sex scenes with eric. yummers :D

oh, and btw, i picked up Playgirl magazine (am i dating myself?) just for the articles (G)

Ricë said...

sure: just for the articles. i picked up Playgirl and cut out all the photos of naked men and taped them to the walls and bathroom stalls and elevators of my too-snooty-for-words college dorm. the cheerleader-in-high-school-and-don't-you-forget-it girls had complete fits.

it was great.

earthlink--available here only as dial-up. we're WAY limited, it turns out. i had no idea.
