Tell me five good things about today. If you’re game, go ahead and make it ten.
I’ve been kind of bummed—I checked with ChrisP about Garf, and they haven’t seen him in many days. I feel guilty, sad, worried, etc., etc. But I have to let it go. So I’m thinking about something else: the good stuff. So here’s my list of 10:
1. heat—it’s almost 7 p.m., and it’s still 96 degrees. I love this.
2. sitting on the porch stitching
3. sitting on the porch having a frappacciinnoo with The EGE—in fact, pretty much anything done sitting on the porch, even though it makes me feel guilty that Garf is no longer there. If he were, it would be soaked in cat spray. Guilt + pleasure, all tangled up.
4. walking to the library/bank/post office under my parasol and figuring out, on my own, that para-sol means “for [the] sun” in Spanish
5. getting a good draft of this week’s work done and ready to edit tomorrow
6. cracking and shelling pecans for Candy, who’s looking very chubby. Fat? Or pregnant again? Yikes: we need birth control for squirrels (don’t you dare make any anti-squirrel comments!)
7. my new paper lanterns on the front porch—the lights are from a garage sale down the street (25 cents for the whole string) and the lanterns were on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $1 and under

8. everybody is happy, all sprawled out on the floor (inside cats) or the grass (backyard cats)
9. my stitching mojo has come back, with ideas for dozens of projects because:
10. I FINISHED A PIECE! goodlordalmighty, this has been a long, long project. Remember back when I did the little video about making felt letters? That was the beginning of this piece. I finished it just now, just this evening, and now I’m going to go try to get some decent photographs. I’ll try to post those later, but: man, it feels good to get it finished. I wish I’d kept track of how many miles of floss I used.
No, I don’t. I don’t want to know.

My dear Rice,
I have a picture of Garf in my mind; he is wandering his world, discovering freedom and with a smile on his face. He is meeting new creatures and watching bugs and having a wonderful time; exactly the life you wanted for him. He is safe..please don't worry
(hey)Jude
OK One really good thing. Only two days more of school.
YEAH
Well, the weather here in Pa. was perfect, 70's and slightly cloudy... I not only got work photographed and done on the computer today, but got to go and buy more flowers and play in the dirt... made and ATE brownies...AND... (honestly), started reading a book called "Living the Creative Life" that I just got! Geez, it's not only an inspiring book, it's purdy! Becky
So sorry to hear about Garth - but your time with EGE sounds quite pleasant, indeed!
I actually had a good day today ... but now I have to go knock on wood.
Number 11: reminding others of how marvelous the structure and feel of words like "parasol."
That reminded me that the French word for umbrella is "parapluie" which means "for the rain." Thanks. :o)
I'll play:
1. Dinner tonight with a good friend I hadn't seen in a while; the pleasure of catching up.
2. Mr Jazz making us drinks before we set out to dinner.
3. being alone when I got home, as Mr. Jazz went to watch hockey with a friend. Yay for alone time.
4. Having got so much crossed off my to do list at work today.
5. Having had the brilliant idea of sending out emails to all my friends that we were desperately seeking an assistant at work. Two viable resumés have come in in two days. TWO!!! People, they actually look good on paper!!! which is so much better luck than we've had in the past few months of searching.
6. The weather has actually warmed up some. It's actually almost 60 degrees!!!!
It's been a good day. Thanks for reminding me Ricë.
As for Garf - Don't obsess about him. He's where he needs to be doing what he needs to do.
thank you, heyjude. really. thank you.
lisa, will you please give pronunciation for us non-french speakers? i'm thinking it must sound lovely--
thanks to you, too, jazz. and congrats on those resumes--that's gotta be a big relief.
Thinking good thoughts and hope that Garf is okay.

Hey, birth control for squirrels is no joke. They've been testing it out at my university's campus recently because we are overpopulated and they like to run in front of bikers. >.< People are pretty good about not actually hitting them, though.
Today is good because:
1. I am less than a week from finishing the school year and having a bit of break time to do fun things, like art projects.
2. Your thoughts on 'parasol' made me happy. I'm kind of a language geek.
3. The moon and the clouds looked really pretty tonight.
Only three because I should be doing work instead of posting here, but I needed a break. But I don't think those are too bad.

3) I'm reading and enjoying a book on urban homesteading knowing full well that I'll never raise a chicken in my life.
4) I love my new Garnet Hill fish sheets so much that, the next bracelet I sell, I'm buying the matching shams.
5) I've been online shopping for stuffed fish pillows at Cabelas.com (and this scares me a little)
