My Photo
Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

I ♥ Kelly Moore

We met Kelly Moore at the Flea Market north of Santa Fe, one of my favorite places to go to find people selling their own stuff. He has a booth there where he paints—paint and brushes and rags everywhere. He was kind of on a different wave length than I and so we didn’t talk much, but now I’m a fan. He shows at his studio on Canyon Road, too.

I don’t know why I’m drawn to this—it’s not what I would usually think of as “my style,” but I’m learning that I don’t actually have a style and am entranced (a good word this week) by all kinds of stuff.

Go here to see more. I actually like his written words a lot, too. [“Flea” refers to the flea market, at least in part.]
the flea has always been
a circus to me
but this year my neighbor
plays the trombone
during the day
i have no idea how this is going to
influence my art
but i am learnin a thing or two
about tommy dorsey
Gets the ideas hoppin’, doesn’t it?

I love Kelly Moore. I found him online several months ago when I was looking for something else entirely. One day, I'll go to Santa Fe and see his work in real life.

I can completely understand why you are drawn to his work. Not only are his paintings visually beautiful, but they have a spiritual beauty too. And of course, to me, (someone who hasn't gotten around to actually making a journal myself yet), some of them remind me of elaborate journal pages.
Thanks for the links to the other artists sites too. I appreciate and enjoy any style of art or music as long as it is done this well. Becky
