My name rhymes with "Lisa,"
I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm
and the mortgage is cheap,
and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course!
The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years.
I have the best job in the world
because I get to call up artists
and ask them nosy questions
and then write about them.
I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.
Yes, that’s right: two at once! Yay! I have an extra copy of the not-yet-released Belle Armoire, this one with my interview with the fabulous knitwear artist Mihaela Manitiu and, as a cool bonus (meaning: big fun for me), a jacket I altered years and years ago: So if you don’t want to have to wait until September 1st to get your hands on this issue, post a comment. And, as always, tell me something good~~
OK. How can you resist a slurpy whine. Yes that's me whining because I let my subscription expire to Belle Armoire. I miss it and now I find myself groveling at your feet for that issue. Something good? Meditation is the key to peace.
I am new to your site! You absolutely have inspired me to get back to creating! The jacket is awsome.. . Can't wait for the article and How do you get a Give-Away from you - Count me in !!!!
I just fell head over heels for Belle Armoire a few weeks ago when I came across it at my local JoAnn. It has totally inspired me to commit to my work on a deeper level... and it is how I found your blog! Keep up the awesome work and thanks for sharing with us all!
Ok, Rice, I'm going to be completely shameless and beg...Please, Please, Please send your gorgeous jacket to me! I promise to love it and wear it with giggling abandon ( hopefully, it will fit-- if not, as my hero Tim Gunn says: I'll "make it work!")!! I will find the most beautiful and colorful parts of my wardrobe with which to wear it, enhance it with a lovely necklace that I will create and tell the whole of Southeastern Wisconsin about the fabulous, talented, beautiful that created it. I will also send you pictures which you may post. Please, my wonderful artist friend, Fall is coming soon to Wisconsin; and your jacket is just what I need to combat my Seasonal Affective Disorder!! Love from Nadine--Teh Minx!!
I love reading your interviews! I feel many times when I read about an artist in a magazine, the information is very superficial. With your interviews, you really work at letting us know how the artists tick.
Knitwear artist sounds cool! Is that in yarn or knit fabric? Because I just started sewing my own panties. My friends think I'm crazy but it's fun. (See my blog for some pics http://passionandart.blogspot.com/2009/08/sewing-underwear.html).
Ok, just checked out Michelle's site. WOW! Those sweaters are gorgeous. That orange one is definitely on my wish list. Normally I don't like wearing sweaters (they feel too old lady like), but these are super fun.
Lucky you don't have much need for sweaters in TX.
so sorry, sweeties--but it's not the jacket i'm giving away, only the magazine. i haven't even gotten to WEAR the jacket yet. or i might decide to put it in my etsy shop if/when i get it back (it's been gone a year and a half)~~i might not even love it any more.
yay, laura: i'm always so happy when someone gets the reference! (you can listen to my favorite version by clicking on the player down at the bottom of the blog--it's #31)
I LOVE your blog! Is it too late to get in the drawing? I would really like to get this. You're an inspiration for me though I haven't gotten up the gumption to get the tattoo yet. LOL
Pick me, pick me. I am in the process of getting my older girl off to college and have been dreaming of all the projects I will do in September when I a) have more time and b) need something to keep from emailing and texting her every hour (which I am determined not to do). Thanks!

Tell you something good? Oh baby, let us get funky!

Did someone say knitwear? I need this for inspiration, I'm kinda tired of knitting cotton dishcloths.

Yikes! I forgot! I ALWAYS need a lovely art mag for inspiration... The both together would be sublime!!
Love from the forgetful, chilly, Minx!
