My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Fabulous Goodwill Find: Oleg Cassini Bustier

Go ahead: when I tell you that I found this at the local Goodwill store last month for $19.99, you’re going to leap up and rush out to your care and go screeching down the street. Drive carefully! I’ll wait. . . .

What did you find? I’d love to see!

This looks like it was never worn until last night, when I wore it out dancing.

You’re imagining, maybe, that we went to the Hilton ballroom to dance to Lon Clark and His Big Band? Nope:  that’s next week. No:  last night we went to dance to Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys at The Hog Pit.

The Hog Pit. Could you come up with a worse name for a place to eat and dance? Maybe, if you were serving exotic meat, you might call it The Buffalo Wallow. But even that doesn’t have the flair of The Hog Pit, does it?. Never mind that it’s owned by the son of someone we know, and that they have good country music there:  we had never been. And I had thought I could happily live my life without even seeing the sign.

The Hog Pit.

Hog.

Pit.

Does either of those words make you want to order dinner? I thought not.

You’re thinking, maybe, that despite the name, perhaps the other patrons like to dress up. Maybe I fit right in, you’re thinking.

Um, no. Sure, there were a couple of young women in sundresses, but for the most part, it was jeans and boots. Some shorts. T-shirts.

And me, in my skirts and rhinestones. We had a fabulous time.

How stunning! I spent Wednesday evening at the Whiskey Barrel Saloon with my mother and sister watching my 87 year old father line dance. College kids, a few middle-agers and dad. Not a bustier in sight

kathy, that made me grin from ear to ear--really. how fabulous. thank your dad for me: we need more people just like him out there showing the young whippersnappers that life is great all the way through: no need to retire to the rocking chair on the porch. although the rocking chair on the porch is pretty fabulous, too--

That is *lovely*! Sometimes, I think I have boob envy...or at least "clothing made for those with boobs" envy.

I just posted last night about my exciting junk store find, actually.

Oh, and Boerne has (had?) the Racoon Saloon. Maybe not quite as off-putting of a name though.

Don't you (and your studio floor) look great!

Too bad the web interface doesn't let you know when people are smiling back at your photo.

you made me laugh again today. I love reading your blogs. we've got a great bbq place here called Hawgs & Sauce and of course the logo has got the pig forking a slab of ribs... ironic. you look great in your get-up, that is THE BOSS!

How FABULOUS !!!!

Seriously - there is a chain of restaurants here called "The Hog's Breath Cafe".

Ewwww.

And they sponsor the race team (V8 supercars) I support so I see their STUPID advertising all the time and their dumb mascot in a big ugly pink pig suit...

Still not as bad as Hog Pit, though.

ONE DAY I am going to get to Texas and dance some real Texas Two Step!

You look FABULOUS! and the Goodwill find is a real keeper!

We have a diner here named - really - the Squat and Gobble.

thanks--y'all are so sweet!

and surely you're joking, right? "Hawg & Sauce" "Squat and Gobble" tell me these don't exist! what are they thinking: that people will eat anything anywhere?

oh, wait. they're right. never mind.

What a fabulous find, and you look gorgeous wearing it! (The skirts - we couldn't see the skirts!)
There used to be restaurant nearby called Jacques Trap but it's gone. In an effort to not have people think "jockstrap" they put a big sign up with a mouse in a mousetrap, but really a giant mouse doesn't really work for a restaurant either.
