My name rhymes with "Lisa,"
I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm
and the mortgage is cheap,
and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course!
The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years.
I have the best job in the world
because I get to call up artists
and ask them nosy questions
and then write about them.
I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.
I dunno exactly why, but I somehow thought this would suit your eclectic musical tastes, Rice. So nice to hear that you did enjoyed it!
Be sure to listen to the sample tracks and watch the videos on Matthew's site. They're fantastic! I especially enjoyed the live, uncut version of "Emotional Clockwork" that shows him creating the layered sound.
I'm kind of surprised at the range of sounds that he gets outta that instrument.

Love. Love. Love.
I was just beating myself up a bit for buying a violin last week, and this has made me let off that and just be glad of spontaneous purchases!
I would *love* to get a cello, but the violin is much more practical, travel-wise.
oh, you CAN'T beat yourself up for things like that--that's marvelous! now you just need to post some videos for us~~
Very, very cool!
Thanks for sharing
Thanks Rob and Rice. Showed this to my eight year old beginner cellist who thought it was 'awesome!'
Sounds very much like Zoe Keating, whom I heard of through the podcast 'Sound Lab'. I think it was on their War of the Worlds episode.
Cheers

The episode is 'Quantum Cello'. She too layers her sound, but using an acoustic eighteenth century cello.
