I’m just the teensiest bit skeptical of the ability of my iFrogz to really protect Skippy. You know, after the Untimely Death of my little camera, which shattered, WHILE IN ITS CASE.
Oy.
So this morning I made a padded case.
It’s a layer of decorative fabric, then two layers of batting, another layer of cotton. I did some stitching to hold those layers together, and then I added a flannel lining. That should offer some small amount of protection, don’t you think?
This is the back, with the flap open.
The front.
I used one of those braided elastic hair band things, cut it apart, knotted the ends, and sewed them in place.
The strap wraps the edges of the flap around the case.
I have no idea how I’ll like it in use, but it wasn’t too horrible to make, so nothing’s lost. I did try another version first, one with an open front—I used iron-on stabilizer in an attempt to make it rigid enough to have a cut-out front window, so the phone could stay in the case even when in use. Eh. The stabilizer wasn’t nearly rigid enough. I could get some rigid plastic, but I’m going to see how I like this one first.

The only problem I can see is that if you need to answer the phone quickly you will have to find it in your bag, dig it out of the case etc. In my case, by that time I have usually missed the call. Can't tell you how often this happens. Now you might sea a clip on the inside edge of your bag and a small ring on the IPHONE case just so it doesn't get buried.
good idea, chris. only i never get calls. i think this phone has received maybe half a dozen calls in the two weeks i've had it.
I love it!! The elastic hair thingy is a brilliant idea. I should make something like that for my phone. Off to look at the material I have.......
dawn
i can't wait to see what you make--we could keep tweaking them and doing show-and-tell until we got them Perfect! whatever that would be--
I love it. I use my cell only for travel & emergencies, and it's so small I'm always losing it in my purse. This would probably help with that as well as keeping crumbs, etc. out of it. Thanks for the idea! Leslie
Love the fabric you used, nice case!
LOVE it!
