Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

And So Here’s What a Turtle Likes to Eat

This is the friendliest of the turtles/tortoises, OG, or Old Guy. He was playing in the sprinkler and came up to The EGE to tell him he was hungry, so The EGE went in for a can of cat food. Of course. The cats weren’t too happy about this, but they’re all chubby, anyway. It’s not like they don’t have enough to share.

Growing up in rural Oklahoma, there was a turtle that had a trail coming from the tree line to the back porch where we kept a trough of dog food. We never saw more than one turtle at any time, but my dad marked their backs with fingernail polish. We counted six different turtles. Very cool video. Thank you for sharing it.

This is all just completely amazing. To think that these are "wild" turtles but they are completely at ease around your kitties, around you and EGE and in your yard. Just amazing. They are SO cute! Thank you so much for sharing, Rice!

That is one zen turtle. You'd think the cats all around it would sort of freak it out...

How interesting. I somehow thought that turtles/tortoises were vegetarians.

Thanks for this.
