My dislike of popular fashion extends to men's clothing, too, of course. The EGE has created his own style of happy, colorful clothes, and I'm always looking for other men who seem to have a sense of style and who dress in something other than stuff they find lying around on the floor of their bedrooms. Or--even worse--stuff some sales guy convinces them is The Thing to Wear, and they believe it because it's expensive and it's what everyone else is wearing.
Wendy sent me a link to BK Circus this morning, and I've been happy ever since. I love the whole aesthetic--it reminds me of Wendy Addison and her Theatre of Dreams, for some reason. It references Steampunk, although it's not what I think of as "steampunk." And I don't like any particular ensemble--you'd want to mix and match with other stuff to avoid the whole one-stop-shopping-style look. But still--it's so much cooler than any other men's look I've seen.
I love their Look Book--you will, too. Here are some of my favorites:
Love the shoes, love the hat on the right (The EGE has some similar and looks fabulous in them; I'm so envious of people who look great in hats)..
Proof that suits don't always have to be ugly and stuffy.
I love this coat but would want it in a better color. Rich purple would be great. I love that the socks they sell in the shop are by Happy Socks. Socks should, indeed, be happy.
Love the idea--of course, that's not really what retailers want you to do. They want you to *believe* that's what you're doing while you're letting them dress you, but, hey! It's something to which to aspire, and it sure beats looking just like everyone else in your little town, doesn't it?
