Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Sometimes We Get Trapped

I'll think, "Huh, I haven't heard anyone in  while," and I'll go looking to see what The EGE is doing, and I'll find him sitting, completely still, in a room--usually in his study. From the doorway, it looks like something's wrong, like he's in pain, maybe, or depressed and just sitting glumly. But when I go into the room, I find that he's gotten trapped. This morning, it was by Clarice (it's usually by Lennie; Moe sits only with me). It looks like he's holding her, but actually she just crawled into his lap and collapsed in this position, purring so loudly you can hear her out in the hall. If she falls asleep, he'll be there for an hour, waiting for her to wake up.

Go ahead, say it: "Ahhhhhhh. Cute!"

Sheesh. This is what I mean:  our lives are ruled by cats.

I love that The EGE will do this...my husband, as well...with a false sigh that makes it seem like a burden...but a burden he really enjoys! (he blogs about cats ruling his life at Confessions of a Cat Juggler). Love your site, and love your creativity.

Wait. He just sat there for an hour in order not to disturb Clarice?

Awww, how cute...

I am so amazed!! That cat is very similar to the one terrorizing our household!! I'd never before seen one that really looked just as Cynthia Rylant described in Henry and Mudge "fur that looked like dried prunes". Ours, too is a professional purring machine, who just flops (like a dog) wherever she wants.

Of course cats rule our lives. It is what they are here for. Isn't it?

Anyone who loves a cat this much is alright in my book.
