It's been a while, hasn't it? I've gone through most of my stash of cool stuff, so there's not a lot left to give away. But I do have some books here, and since they're from my publisher, North Light, I thought it would be fun to do a little cross-pollinating. So here's what we're going to do. On Monday I'll draw a name to win Michael deMeng's latest book,
Here's what you'll do to enter:
Go to CreateMixedMedia.com, and do a search for Michael deMeng. Find the free download (yeah! I said free!) that comes from this book. Check it out and see if it's something you want to see more of ("of which"--yeah, yeah, yeah). If so, come back, leave a comment about something deMeng-ish, and I'll toss your name in the hat. How's that?
(Extra points if you watch my Book Notes video about the book and tell me how fabulous I am, of course. Snort.)
Sure, it's more trouble than just saying, "Yeah, I want the book!" but y'all are helping me out here. You're visiting the new website, signing up, getting the PDF, helping me spread the word--all that stuff. Isn't it supposed to be true that nothing in life is free?
And then check back on Monday--if you don't show up, well, you know what happens then.
And you're going to want to show up soon, anyway, because I've got a couple more extra books. As soon as I get those ready, I'll post.
Thanks for playing along and helping out! XO

I have just sent an email to the Carolina Mixed Media Art Guild about the CreateMixedMedia website (I saw it on your blog yesterday). Wow! I'm just sayin'. I am also taking Michael deMeng's first online workshop colorwashes, even as I type! Michael's work is truly unique and bizarre! I love it! I downloaded rusty-blackened and ex voto already! Before I saw your post! I would love to win the book!
The web site looks very interesting, i love, love all things Michael deMeng, i have his 1st book and have taken 3 of his classes...in my opinion he is the best teacher EVER!!
I downloded the 3 book...good stuff!
thanks

The download from Michael's book was great. I wish I saw it a couple of days earlier. I just finished using Miracle Grow fertilizer to take the shine off some binder rings I used on a little project I dropped in the mail to Somerset about 30 minutes ago - LOL! There's always next time and now I know where to go for some great ideas!
Please put my name in the hat for Michael's book. I was lucky to get to meet him at Art & Soul here in Portland a couple of years ago and I love his work!
I signed up yesterday and sent the link out to my art quilt group. I'm taking Michael's class as well and it is delightfully diabolical. Brains!! We're making brains!!!
I'm drooling jelly brain and wanting to splatter some serial killer red all over the place to win this - I am taking his online class and he is a RIOT. Not as funny as you, of course, but he also has a wicked way with words. And paint! Uszshhh!

i really liked his first book and this one looks even more interesting (love the cover!). have to try that 'recipe' for faking burnt edges...tho i do like to play with fire :)
I've just downloaded the two Michael DeMeng projects. I find his work endlessly inspirational. Would love to win his book. I've not taken any of his classes but would love to. He would have to come to Australia though, I don't have the bus fair to come to America :(. The site is fabulous. I really love it. Congratulations.
Hi Rice,
I'd love to receive Michael's book! Your new site for F+W looks great! So many great artists and info! Great job!
Let me see, something DeMeng-ish . . . rusty, mixed assemblage, metal and wood. I like it all!
Smiles to you and the EGE!

Brains?? I wanna make brains, too!
Howdy,
I am definitely going to try this PDF technique 'making things rusty and blackened'. I've been interested in his work for a while.
Not only do I like it, but my hubby (of 35 years) likes Michael's work, too! Who woulda thought?
Thanks for sharing the info - hope I win! Pick me, pick me!
Peace,
LuLu

I never knew that you could rust something that wasn't metal. I didn't know they made something to paint on even plastic so that you could make it look metal! I've always wondered about that!
I enjoy reading your blog. You are a pretty entertaining person! Sounds like you really enjoy life!

Start yanking stuff off the shelves in the studio that I want to age. Keys and chain and charms. Plastic people and wooden people. A few plastic arms and legs. Watch parts. Nails. Screws. Earrings. Miniature plastic animals.
I have a giant pile of stuff that I've been saving for assemblage (which is brand new to me.) but I knew I couldn't use it while it was looking brand new. I need to know more about again and assemblage and I think Michael will be a great teacher.
Oh, an said pile is in front of the patio door which is the only way to the backyard for the dog. She's looking at me and crossing her legs so I hope you pick me soon so I can put all this stuff to good use and let her outside.
I check out your site periodically and, I must say, you always have motivatd me to explore more. The Create Mixed Media website is very useful - especially since I teach art in a high school. What could be more deMengish and bizarre than hanging with about 90 adolescents every day?
I already have the first book and bought a second copy to use in the classroom.
Cat pee yellow! Bwah-ha-ha! Ok I would love LOVE the book but even if I don't win thank you for offering this book because I would have missed those fabulous downloads. I've already Facebooked, emailed, called to share the site. I'm new to DeMeng and just recently found out about his books/workshops. Can't wait to start trying out his suggestions. Ok did I lose points for not finding the book notes video? :0
Great download. I love the aged look, adds more character!
I went to the website. It looks great and I've added it to my favorites! I really like Michael's list of "Techniques to Age Stuff in Less Than 500 Years." Please enter my name on the list of those who would love to win the book!
