My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Stuff You Need to Know

My blog post today over at CreateMixedMedia.com is all about grammar and stuff you need to know if you want to write for publication. You can also watch me review my own book, Creative Time and Space, just in case you missed that video when I posted it here. I did post it here, didn't I?

Oh, who knows?

I'll be back later--I have photos of The Big Project I want to share, but this afternoon is Tax Day, and I still have some stuff to prepare for that--yiiiiiii! I meant to have it all tied up and neatly ready yesterday, but our Best Friend in the World showed up unexpectedly, and we spent the rest of the day sitting out on the front porch visiting, just like the three of us said we'd be doing 25 years ago, when we were all young. It was lovely, but we're a little behind around here this morning.

Back later--XO

That's a great post. I love the English language and attempt to be correct as much as possible. Yes, I proof my e-mails before I hit the send button. I think text messages are a great invention, but I spell out each word as God intended it to be written. LOL. These things take just a few seconds, but they make me feel good about myself and the impression I make on the world.

Thanks for your constant crusade for better usage.

We have a saying/joke that periodically pops up in conversations at my writer's group.

"Writing was really easy until I learned how to do it right."

BTW, have you ever attempted to correct someone using bad grammar during a conversation? Not a good idea. Yikes. Most often they don't appreciate it, and they don't "get" it. They just get mad.

Thanks, Kim! No, Sharon, I don't try to do that--I don't want to hit slapped, you know? Oh, well, I *do* do it to my husband, who looks at me and says, "Did you understand what I was saying? You did? Then what's your point?" Can't argue with that.
