Here's a really easy, painless, stress-free way to Get Your Art Out There. Over at CreateMixedMedia.com, we have the Week as Art, where every week a different artist does a little piece of art for each day. Here's today's date, created by Dawn Sokol. She did all the days this week, which you can see here on the home page.
The next couple of months are all booked up, of course, but after that there's going to be the coolest opportunity for people to contribute. If you've been visiting the site, you've seen that each week is different--and that's what's really cool: you don't have to paint. You don't have to draw. You can do The Week as Art with photographs of things that look like numbers. You can make cookie numbers. Matchstick numbers. You can cut your toast into numbers and photograph it. Piles of rocks. Arrangements of twigs. Clothes from your closet artfully arranged (think placement of sleeves).
Getting any ideas? You don't have to spend months on this--it's something you can do quickly, and then you can do again. If you've got an idea and you're willing to work with a deadline (because if you say you're going to do the first week in June and then forget, well: we'll have an art-less week, and won't that be sad?), you need to contact the editor in charge of The Week as Art, and y'all will work out which week and when it's due, and then you get to play!
What's in it for you? You get your art out there in a big-but-no-pressure way, plus, if you'll notice, there's a link to your website or blog. Whoa! You can't beat that.
So go here. Send a query or just a note saying, "Hey! I wanna do a week!" (no pressure--she's nice and won't bite!).
What are you waiting for? The weeks await!
XO
