This is a video I took with the iPhone at a free concert at the University of Texas at the Permian Basin last weekend. I wanted to see if I could record the video, email it to myself, and upload it to Blogger without going through YouTube. So this is an experiment--it'll be fun to see how it works. I'm also publishing to YouTube from the iPhone to see how that goes.
Let's see if I can upload another one:
Anyway, Michéle (Me-Kel-ay) Ramo, from Chicago but born in Sicily, is absolutely amazing. He plays a custom-made guitar-plus-bass he invented--it's 6 1/2 octaves "with two fretless basses." Just amazing. I know nothing about guitar and was completely entranced.
Here are some photos The EGE took, trying to get good shots of him playing--hard with not-so-great lighting and fast fingers, but cool. You can click to enlarge any of them.
Nice guy, fabulous music, amazing guitar.

Hi Ricè, I wasn't able to see anything at all except empty space where the videos were supposed to be...I am viewing your blog on my Ipad. I am going to try to find them on YouTube though, because my 25 year old son plays both bass and guitar and I know this is something he'd like to see as well. Love, love, love your blog and have listened to all but the last two of your podcasts...I am waiting to be able to savor them properly... Your blog is the first thing I go to when I get a chance to get online. Have both of your books as well. I have a very physical job and I listen to your podcasts while I am working...while my body is there, my head is in a whole 'nother world....dreaming and scheming about my art career. I occasionally feel someone giving me a little push...lol. Just love your easy style and it makes me feel as though I'm having coffee with the girls. You always ask the questions I'd like to know the answers to...and then some. Thanks for doing what you do.
Beautiful!
