My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Podcast with Zom Osborne

Y'all know Zom. She comes here sometimes in the middle of the night, which is Tomorrow for her in Australia (yeah, my head still whirls madly when I think about it being Tomorrow somewhere else, so I just don't think about it, along with a lot of other stuff, like how many people there are on the planet, which is not actually a non sequitur, as you will hear), and nags me, ever-so-gently. (Just for her, in fact, I'm putting tags on this post.)

Anyway, so yesterday I talked to her. Except it was today for her, except it wasn't. It was still yesterday except it was Wednesday already. See? Doesn't that make *your* head whirl, too?

Isn't she cute? Or, if you hate "cute," doesn't she look like she'd be a lot of fun to hang out with? Or, if you're picky: Doesn't she look like she would be someone it would be a lot of fun out with whom to hang?

Gah! Never MIND, OK?

Here's Zom. She's fabulous. Enjoy. Here's more of her work.

Rice, thanks for the interview. It was so fun to talk with you.

May I add my artist website as well? In case someone wants to look at my paintings without wading through posts?
It is www.zomosborne.com

"...a lot of fun out with whom to hang"???

Um, yes. And as Steve Martin says, some folks have a way with words and others, oh... not have way, I guess.

Off to download Zom for a roadtrip! Thanks again for fun podcasts!

This podcast made me want to rush out and buy a plane ticket to Australia. As you said, she's fabulous, and someone I'd love to spend time with — talking art, journaling, writing, and the interesting job of being an artist's model (In my early 20s,I did that for five years to pay for Life Figure Drawing classes.)

Which is why I was gobsmacked when I saw that she had become a follower of my own little blog. I had to clean my glasses off to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. LOL

Listened to your podcast while I was working tonight...how interesting! I do love that you both talked about "the ugly stage" that a painting sometimes goes thru. I can soooo relate to this. I think people do just stop and give up too soon. If you just keep pushing, .."do something, even if it's wrong"... you will get something from it. If not a decent painting, at least a lesson in what to do, or what not to do, the next time.
Zom is a very talented, interesting, and many-faceted person. You are right...she would be great fun to hang out with. Thanks for introducing her to us, Ricė.

what a great interview, I so appreciated Zom's insights and love that you talked about the ugly stages and posting those processes. I tend to do the same on my blog, sometimes I cringe at how badly a painting begins, nice to know I'm not alone.
