My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Over at the Other Blog

Actually, I have two other blogs, but one of them is like the icky brother-in-law who spends more time in the joint than out and is a dead ringer for Jack Nicholson in The Shining, and I don't mean in the beginning, when he could still pass for normal after a good shampoo, but later, when he had the ax. Meaning: I avoid it and haven't spent much time hanging out with it. Actually, that isn't a good analogy, because there's nothing wrong with that blog (notice the lack of links, however, just as if I were trying to avoid introducing y'all) except pure-D lack of time.

No, the Other Blog I'm talking about now is NOT the icky ax-toting brother-in-law blog but my blog over at CreateMixedMedia.com, which is perfectly presentable and sparkly. No ax! I always mean to tell what I'm talking about over there, but then I forget, and then by the time I remember, there's another post up, and then I think, "You know, I'll bet these people get tired of my sending them places, all like, 'Go over here and look at this, and then go over here and look at that.' I should just leave them alone."

I make myself tired.

But I've started this new series over at The Creative Life, and I'm all excited about it. I'm asking artists to talk about the details of what sparked a particular piece. When I had the idea, I sent off a bunch of emails to people with a kind of maybe-too-long-and-involved questionnaire attached. I didn't realize this in my initial enthusiasm, of course; it was only when I started getting responses saying, "Yes, I'd love to, but I'm going to need some time. Weeks, rather than days. Maybe months. Can I get back to you in 2015?" So while we're waiting, holding our breath in excitement, to hear what they have to say, I've been writing about some of my own experiences. Not because I think I'm A Great Artist or anything, but because I think the creative process is fascinating, no matter what form it takes. And, as you might guess, I have some stories~~

So, in short, go here. There'll be more. If you didn't read the introductory post, you can go here.

XO

Love the concept! I hope you get tons of responses....I just love hearing about how one is led down a creative path. My mom and I do this all the time...she will be telling me about a piece of art she liked, I will be trying to envision it in my head, and she'll say, "No, but that would really be a great idea..." and it eventually morphs into this whole different thing... I love the aspects of serendipity and synchronicity that come into play for me and probably others as well. Can't wait to hear more!

No, we don't get tired of you sending us to look at other places. That's the point of the web, to be able to get lost in it and be looking at something entirely different in two or three clicks.
