Cindy O'Leary is the organizer and host of An Artful Journey, a mixed media art retreat held every year in the lovely Santa Cruz Mountains in Los Gatos, California. The next retreat is in February 2012, and I'm way excited. Why? Because I'll be there doing all kinds of cool stuff including moderating an artists' panel discussion about creativity. You don't want to miss that, for sure. Registration opens at noon on July 12, so you'll want to go to anartfuljourney.com to find out all the details.

Let me be the first to comment ! I have attended 3 .
Nina Bagley, DJ Pettitt, Jesse Reno were my teachers. I love the idea of spending 3 days with 1 teacher. I could not pick a favorite as all were so different, but the teachers were all excellent. You get a lot of 1 on 1 time and the classes are small. Location, location, location!! Classes are conveniently located, great dining room, funky fun rooms.
But, here is the best part. Friendly atmosphere and lots of new artists to meet. Since I have attended from the beginning I get to see friends from previous retreats at An Artful Journey!
I am planning to be ready for registration in july!!!!
Cindy and her helpers think of everything to make you feel welcome.
The bonus this 2012 will be you!!! I have followed you for years and admire your style, humor and honesty!!!
thanks for the podcast!
Cindy's just the best! I've been to the last two retreats and it was just so energizing to spend time with other creative (mainly) women in that beautiful place. If you are on the fence about going, jump to the 'will do' side right now and be ready to register the minute registration opens (and I do mean the minute...) for whichever class tickles your fancy. Just trust Peggy and me on this one!
Great interview, it's all true. I've attended two of these retreats and it is unlike any other retreat I've gone to. I like being able to immerse myself for three days learning from one instructor and to finish a project if I'm so inclined or to focus on one aspect of the class if I'm into that. No schleping materials from room to room and genuinely getting to know fellow attendees. I'm looking forward to meeting Rice and attending the panel discussion, great idea.
