My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Book Notes: "Artist's Journal Workshop"

I do Book Notes videos for CreateMixedMedia.com, which means--lucky me!--I get to read all these really cool books. I usually don't post about them here because these aren't reviews--they're just peeks inside the books. But this one is so cool I wanted to show you so you could go check it out for yourself. I love it and think you might, too.

I heard about this book from my friend Roz, who's one of the contributors; and that tells you pretty much all you need to know: it's a book about visual journals, and Roz is in it. What else is there?

Cathy Johnson is the author, the blog is here, and you can buy the book here or here.

Thanks for the peek into the book. It looks great, and I joined her FB art journal site. :=)

I agree, Roz and journaling, a no brainer.

On visual journaling, an interesting distinction from art journaling. Because it looks like different work than I have seen in books on art journaling. (not that there needs to be a distinction, I use them interchangeably myself, but I noticed the difference.) Oops, I am blathering.

I make the distinction, Zom, because it's a conversation I had with Roz. She doesn't call hers "art journals" but "visual journals." When I think of the two, I think of two completely different kinds of journals.

I keep visual journals and have for many years, and I enjoy reading about and finding how others keep theirs. This is easily in my Top ten of books and there's great competition around. I enjoyed every page and found new ideas and inspiration, despite the plethora (I love saying that word) of ideas and books already in my collection. I really enjoyed this book.Wouldn't you think every thing's been said already? But it hasn't - obviously!
