My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

People Are Just Really Nice #2: Laura Stinson

So by now y'all are sick unto death of hearing about The Dog Bite. (Go here if you somehow missed it. And here. And--oh, yeah--here, too. Sheesh.)

Everyone was really nice and really sympathetic, and all the good wishes made me feel much better about the world, even if it does contain things that want to eat me. And then I went out yesterday and found this sitting on the front porch in a box from amazon.com
Is that not the coolest and most thoughtful thing EVER? Yes, it is.

Laura decided I needed pepper spray--exactly what our neighbor had insisted I get, not that I had yet gone out to hunt for some--and instead of saying, "Hey, quit whining and go buy some pepper spray!" she sat down and ordered it and had it delivered to my front door. And if that doesn't make you feel incredibly warm and fuzzy about people, I don't know what to tell you. It makes tears come to my eyes.

So the next time you're feeling gritchy about the state of humanity and grousing about people, remember: there are some really, really nice people out there in the world. Really, amazingly nice.

Thank you, Laura--you're fabulous! XO

If you have to use it make sure the wind is blowing toward the dog! You don't want to get trapped in a cloud of pepper pray.
