Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

New Pants!

Desigual had just opened in the Northpark Mall when we were in Dallas at the end of last month. I had seen something with that tag on it locally but hadn't paid much attention, but the store grabbed me and pulled me in--lots of mashed-up clothes, raw-edge applique, funky coats and pants and these:

I paid way, way more for these than I usually pay for clothes, but I fell in love with the possibilities that swirled around in my head. To tell you the truth, I bought a pair in a linen-ish cotton, too--same style but not patched up. I love these and can't wait until they take their place in the line-up for altering.

How interesting. Could you do the same thing by altering a skirt?

I don't know if we have Desigual here in England.

Must investigate further!

Oh goodness me. There is an online store with English prices. For me it is very very expensive. But... great stuff as inspiration and upcycling other clothes for my Eco-garments class. Thanks so much for sharing!

Please get the lovely EGE to take a photograph of you seated in them.

I'm wondering what they look like with the low crotch and fabric excess when seated. If they look comfortable I'd love to reconstruct something similar just in muslin before I make some of these from my far-too-big stash.

Thanks!

Suella, he got some photos--I'll try to get the card from him and get them up tomorrow, but it's getting crazy here as we prepare to leave on Thursday. If there aren't photos eventually, please remind me, OK? The secret to comfortable sitting in these is to pull the cuffs/leg bottoms up to about your knees if you're sitting cross-legged, which is how I usually sit. It makes the pants kind of pooch in your lap, but it's quite comfortable none-the-less. For regular people sitting (like I'm doing now, in my desk chair) there's no difference at all that I can tell. They're like a skirt with the bottom sewn shut, pretty much.
