I hope all of y'all got a chance to join in on the Destination: Creativity blog hop--it was great fun, and the artists created some fabulous posts. Jen Cushman made a video, Mary Beth Shaw interviewed me--everybody was so generous with their time. Huge thanks to everyone--XO
When I set this up, I had intended that there would be a grand prize, with the winner picked somehow from those who entered. But that's not going to happen, alas.
When we attended the retreats, I had a huge envelope for each retreats, with the retreat's name on it, and I put into the envelope everything we were given at that retreat: candy, welcoming gifts (and some of those are really fabulous--Teesha Moore sent me a thermos from one of the past Artfests to show what kinds of things are given in the welcome bag), moo cards, trades. Wax lips! (and, man, those had a rough ride--yikes!) Everything went into those labeled envelopes, and those were all sent to the designers for the book. They picked out what they needed and did the photographs and everything and then sent everything back in a big box.
That box has been sitting there for a couple of months, full of all the gifts. Well, most of it: I have no idea what happened to that groovy thermos, alas. Maybe I just imagined it. And, yikes--there were also several pieces of chocolate from Artfest, and I wish I'd eaten that instead of saving it because, well, 18 months is kind of a long time for chocolate to hang around waiting for you. It's kind of the worse for having traveled so far and sat for so long. I bet it would have been delicious, though. Once upon a time.
I had intended to ship that box to the Grand Prize Winner, but that's not going to happen, as I now need to store everything in case it's needed at some point. So the box goes into the storage building, which is really too bad, and I apologize for not having a single idea of anything else I could offer as a grand prize. Too bad I cleared out and gave away all those boxes of art supplies a couple years ago, huh? Sorry about that.
On a happy note, though, the blog hop was way fun, with lots of participants and great comments. Thank you SO much for playing along. It was my first blog hop ever, and now I'm all eager to do it again. It's one of those things that's a win-win, you know? Everybody has a good time and there are good feelings all the way around. Now if we can just get the USPS to join in the warm fuzziness and get those books to the winners as soon as possible~~

Rice, the prize gift was visiting artists blogs that I had read about, but never visited. I have found new inspiration in media different from my own. Thank you. Okay, now to go order your book.
Very enjoyable blog hop that included such wonderful artists. I also wanted to say that I just listened to your interview of Alexandra Jacopetti Hart, author of Native Funk and Flash. OH MY! I think I got her book in 1974 too and carried it with me wherever I went. Great interview...talk about a walk down memory lane!
best from Tunisia,

Jeannie, thank you so much. What a wonderful way to look at it. I feel bad for not having something fabulous, but you've put a much better spin on it. I love the cross-pollination of learning about other media.
Oh, I LOVE that, Nadia! Thank you so much for telling me about that--I love that so many of us had that book and carried it everywhere. When I found Alexandra, I was over the moon~~XO
I'm one of the lucky ones... I was Jen Cushman's winner! YES!! Cannot wait! (So many exclamation points.. you must forgive me.) Thanks so much for writing another fantastic and inspiring book. So excited I can't stand it!!
