My Photo
Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

Some More Garments

Here are a couple more things I've gotten photographed on Alex. She is SO agreeable about this--way, way better than am I. I often get gritchy about photograping: The EGE is very exact and precise, and sometimes it seems like it's taking forEVER. And you can imagine how much I love standing still in one place. It's torture for me. "Still" is a foreign concept to me unless I don't feel good, and almost everything I do--from the food I eat to the exercises I do--is designed to keep me feeling good.  So I'm hardly ever still, which makes me a sucky model.

And that's my excuse for not having more photos of me wearing the clothes. Bless Alex.

So here's a long Double D Ranch t-shirt I got at BJ's and added to. It already had stitching and beading and stuff on it, just not enough. So I added some more.

I like this one a lot--I've actually worn it already. Whoa.
Then there are these, waiting for me to do something with them:
I think it's this one, but in gray.
 I think it needs
more stitching and some beads.

Then there's this coat, about which I still can't decide. (I can't read the swirly-script tag; it's not a name I recognize.) It's too dull and muted, and I don't know if I want to take the time it would require to really bump it up to par:
I was, of course, a sucker for the stitching details that are already on it. Sigh.

Then there's this jacket.  I think it's Romeo & Juliet, which means nothing to me. The front is horrid, but the back is kind of cool:

One of the reasons I got it was because The EGE really likes the buttons--they remind him of the buttons on his dad's army coat (they're rattly).
OK--I'll put the rest in another post so it won't take f-o-r-e-v-e-r to load all the photos.

Ohmigawd, I cannot believe the stuff you find thrifting. We have the same boring c**p in the thrift stores that we have in our regular stores. They are all amazing.

I got especially excited when I saw the front of the second coat, the pleats. I love wearing greys with my coloured stuff.
I wonder if the final embroidery would go well on that second coat. It might still be too muted for you.

Oh, I might be tempted to take the hood off the pleated coat. Does it detach?

I think the first coat would be difficult to stitch and bead in an organic style style that would go well with the current formal embroidery. I think this lily needs no gilding and I suspect that you would be unhappy with your style of stitching against what is on the coat already. It actually looks like a nice coat. Would you consider re-thrifting it?

Yes, the hood zips off. I would probably wear it without the hood. I haven't worn it yet.

I agree about the formal embroidery. I'm thinking I'll just do a running stitch along the seams in the front and around the waist--just to add more color--and then maybe bead some of the flowers in prominent spots for some bling. It's just too much grey, you know?
