Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

That Silk Thing, Redux

Remember that silk thing, kind of lingerie-ish, that I bought at My Sister's Closet in Phoenix? Originally it was around $250.

Here's the post about it. Well, I didn't like the straps, so I undid them--took them loose and unwound them. They were strips of silk, all bound up with sloppy stitches and a few beads. I also didn't like the ties on the sides--they wouldn't stay tied and didn't hlep give it a shape. I didn't stitch it all the way down--just a good solid tack at the top of each side. Now it looks like this:

I may go back in and do some gathering on the straps, with beads to match those I put in the lace. I haven't decided yet. On the one hand, the wider straps make it look more like an over-piece and less like underwear. On the other hand, they kind of overwhelm the rest of it. I'm still thinking about it (whenever I come across it languishing in the closet).

More later--back to stitching on this cold, grey, drizzly morning--XO

Thanks, Heather!

Yeah, the back of the straps--it does look kind of weird, but I think I may like it. Still thinking~~

I say Success! I like the wide straps in back. They give a certain humour and look good.

I think it is fantastic. How great that you were unable to unwind the straps. I am so sick of spaghetti straps, I can't wear them anymore.

Vast improvement! I think the reason the straps may bother you is that there is detail stitching everywhere, but there. Perhaps a little gathering or pintucks - not too much! Just to meld it with the rest of the top. I really, really like this!

Ooh Jeanie has become quite the fashionista, lol. Is this the sculpture's eye? I am going to have to nag altering advice/ideas from both of you now.

Zom, I think you have the wrong Jeanie but it's ok. LOL.

Yes, there's Jeannie (2 n's) in Washington, and Jeanie (with 1) sculpting in Phoenix. I wish we all had photos so I could keep us all straight, too.
