This isn't the Way Cool Project I promised yesterday--I've got the shots and will get that up soon, I promise. Sorry about that--
This yoolie, finished just Thursday night, is one of my favorites. It started off as a cream heavy-ish knit henly. I dyed it pink, not bothering to agitate it much in the washer--I love the mottled look. Good thing, too, since that's what I always get. I'm A Lazy Dyer, indeed.
Then I did the usual yoolie thing and added some of the Quilt Festival buttons--not cheap, but very cool.
The hem in the front wanted to curl up, which made me think about doing something there. Then I remembered the old felted wool--not the Quilt Festival wool, but some I made from wool garments from the thrift--and it turned out I had some that was the perfect color. I freehanded the peace sign:
Here's Alex in it
The side tails are my favorite part, of course.
and here I am, in tungsten light at Starbucks (Alex is in the studio in natural light--by the time The EGE gets home from school, there's no good light out here)--just to give you a better idea of the fit:
I've got about half a dozen more ready to work on, but I'm currently embellishing a thrifted Free People long-sleeved shirt I dyed (twice!) and stitched. And mending one of The EGE's shirts--he had badges on the pocket, and a kid in PE ran into it and ripped them off, tearing a hole in the pocket. It's a dyed pink shirt; now it has a purple heart on the pocket that has to be stitched.
So many ideas, so many projects, so little time.
What are you working on this weekend?
