My Photo
Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. I also stitch, podcast, blog, and then, in my spare time, do it all some more.

It Snowed! (Grrrrr.)

No, I'm not excited. I don't like snow, as you know. I've *seen* snow. I've played in snow. I've been snowed in.

In short, I've been there and done that and have a really good imagination, so if I ever forget having been in it and want to experience snow, I can just think, "Really cold and wet" and have a pretty idea of what it would be like to have it in my shoes and down the back of my neck.

Nevertheless, it can be pretty. The Ever-Gorgeous Earl spent a couple hours yesterday out taking photos, so I thought I'd share some of my favorites. You can click to embiggen.
Our house, taken from the street.
 Bird feeder
Love the detail on these two (above and below)

 House in the neighborhood
They just recently painted this house by the museum, and I LOVE it. Other people? Not so much. I think the color is perfect.
The Museum of the Southwest, where we walk at least once a day on our route.
Back of the museum. It use to be the Turner Mansion before it was a museum.
 I love this photo.
Between the museum and the planetarium.
In front of the Haley Library, next to the planetarium.
I think he went downtown for these--they look like the cars at one of the lots on Wall Street.

Our favorite creepy old house--he's got some really good shots of this one (without snow), but they must be on another flashcard. It's way out by the Interstate.

I was hoping all this stuff would be melted by now, but it's only 27 degrees at 2 pm, so it looks like we're stuck with it for another day. Nevertheless, I missed walking yesterday and so must layer up and man up and get out there.

Thanks for coming by~~more wardrobe stuff soon (I finished something--yay!) XO

I feel the same about snow. It is pretty and now it can leave. However, we typically get a few feet over the winter. I am looking out to sunny skies and 37 degrees in the great Northwest, while you are buddling up to go out in snow. There is something wrong with the weather. Keep warm. A trip to Starbucks is always a nice way to warm up. :)

Down here in San Angelo, TX we got to see all the pretty snow but it melted when it hit the ground. I would love to trade ya. :) It was so lovely coming down. We are cold here too. Be lucky to hit the 30's today. Stay warm Rice by the end of the week we should be back to nice walking weather. deb

Even Starbucks was cold last night--the first time it's been cold since my Great Campaign for Warmth (it took over a month, but I finally got the temperature adjusted there, and it's been great until last night).

I don't know about San Angelo, Deb, but it's supposed to be only in the 50s by the weekend. That's still about 30 degrees below comfortable for me. Yeah, I know: I'm a wuss. That's why I live here!

I am amazed at how many BIG trees you have.
I always think of Midland as the PAH-RARE-EE. LOL
Wait a week. It'll be at least 60 again if not 70.
This is Texas after all.

I wish they'd turn the heat down at our neighbourhood Starbucks! I'm sure you's love it! No snow here, thankfully. Nice pics.

I love snow, so I'm jealous. Over here we're getting ready for another big fall storm. They usually start in october, but it's been foggy all through november and unusually quiet, but now the weather gods are catching up. So far no winter here, jus lots of wind, hail, thunder and rain. We will be locked in on our island tonight because of the high water and the ferry has been canceled. I will curl up on my couch with a book and pot of tea and listen to the wind. Wonderful.

I love the snow pictures AND the new font.

Thank you! The EGE thanks you, too--and we went out yesterday so he could take photos of the neighborhood snowmen. I see he didn't leave me his camera card, so I'll have to get those later.

Glad you like the font, Kim. I'd forgotten I'd changed it. I've been tweaking it for a couple of days, trying to get it really legible without being completely boring. Easy to read but not ugly.

Caatje, that sounds lovely even to me--I think I'd be claustrophobic is I were on an island that was locked down (what an odd and intriguing concept), but being safe and warm and tea and a book--that sounds so cozy!

Wow! I knew Earl was a good photographer, but these are absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for the "snow with my coffee" this morning.

sorry you ended up with the same storm we had -- it was below zero here for a couple of nights, but we're supposed to get up to the 40s today --- oh wow! a heat wave!!

hang in there, it'll go soon

Below zero is obscene. I'm sorry. I can't even go there (I've been there, but I'm not going back).

Thanks, Linda--he reads all the comments, and yours will be a real treat~~XO
