My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and no, my hair is not naturally orange. The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 34 years. I have the best job in the world because I get to call up artists and ask them nosy questions and then write about them. In my spare time I write. Yeah, I know that's kind of pathetic, but what can I say?

Another Big Purge~~Yippee!

Yesterday's was so much fun that I coerced another local artist friend to come over this afternoon at 4 to take away another huge load of things I so lovingly collected but haven't even looked at in years. Many years.
art supplies of all kinds (old wooden dominos, spray dye, rusty metal boxes and bottle caps--the list just goes on and on)
fabulous paper--some handmade and given to me in trade, some hand-marbled that I bought at Texas Tech in the art supply section of the student bookstore years ago (those are the sheets on top)
lots of old, yellowed, falling-apart-and-perfect-for-collage books, such as that illustrated dictionary on top and a couple sets of way-cool encyclopedia with The BEST illustrations. I kept hanging onto them, but I'm never going to do anything with them. So off they go to a new home.

Wow. It's taken me all morning to get this from the storage building into the house and on the front porch, and now I'm filthy dusty and am going to go take a shower.

This is SOOOOO exciting!

I'm SOOO jealous! That's what I REALLY should be doing ... rather than playing on the internet.

I should be doing that too, Ingrid! Instead, I sit here, wishing for the energy to go clean that studio out, and think about the stuff I have that I know I'll never use and wonder who might like it. Good for Ricë!

Ummmmmm Rice? If you keep this up, you will have a totally empty building out back to turn into a fabulous work space!

Thanks, y'all. I. Am. Exhausted. There was way more stuff--heavy stuff--than I thought. Boxes on books on high shelves = not so much fun. I've got an hour before she shows up, so I'm going to go take a walk, I think. Walks always make you feel better. That's what I'm telling my back. . . .

Oh my gosh! I'm so so jealous! I'd love to be able to go through your stash. Oh the possibilities! Those books would make wonderful art journals, and that paper...I could so help relieve you of some of your artsy stuff that you are purging :D I had to leave most of my stuff behind when I moved cross country.

How About a Little Music?
