Back in December, Melanie Testa started her Rockstar Boro project, and in reading the notes from some of the participants, I ended up on Lyric Kinard's blog where she was just starting her annual Joy of Service Project, something her family does during the holidays to spread a little peace and joy in what is always a crazy busy season. We tried to set up a time to talk then, but it was, well, too crazy busy.
I apologize for the audio quality. I suspect Skype wasn't happy with the speed of my internet connection right then--sometimes it's so fabulous I can talk to someone in London with perfect clarity, and other times it's so hideous it sounds like someone here in Texas is talking from five miles under the surface of the ocean. We hung up and tried again, and I cut out the parts where you couldn't understand it at all, so I hope you'll bear with us and the quality won't be too annoying. Sorry about that.
Anyway, go to Lyric's website and blog to see her fabulous textile art. Go here to read about the Joy of Service, and go here to see her boro project--the skirt we talk about that I cannot wait to see more about. (There are more posts about it throughout December.)
And then click on the little player, below, to listen to Lyric.

Fun interview. It's nice to be reminded that the art lifestyle can be used to promote social healing. Thanks for taking time to do this interview.
Thanks for listening! Sorry again about the audio quality. Skype is either my best friend or is trying to kill me. You never know from day to day~~
Thanks Rice! I am a huge fan of Lyric. Her artwork, book, dvds, and especially her heart are so wonderful. As Lyric said, you bring so much beauty, inspiration, creativity, and joy into my life. Yet, we have never met and live thousands of miles apart. Thank you. By the way, Lyric's bead dvd is da' bomb! Thanks again!
