My Photo
Midland, Texas, United States
My name rhymes with "Lisa," I live in Midland, Texas, because it's warm and the mortgage is cheap, and of course this is my natural hair color. Of course! The EGE--The Ever-Gorgeous Earl--is my husband of 35 years. I have the best job in the world: I call up artists and ask them a bunch of nosy questions and then write about them. Or podcast them, if we're going to let "podcast" be a transitive verb. I write, I blog, I podcast, I stitch. In my spare time, I do it all some more.

And Here They Are, Finished

You saw these two the other day:

I didn't make them; I bought them used and just washed them: no dyeing, no altering. Then this week I did this to them:

A bunch of buttons I already had, most of them from the antique store, so they're old, but I don't know how old.
Then on this second one you see what goes on around here, why everything I work on is wrinkled and covered with fur and stuff.

Who can resist, though? She's cute even when she's moving and the photo is blurry.
She was purring up a storm. They love having their photos taken because it means they're the total center of attention. Like they don't get enough of that. Right.

She's pretty sure I did this just for her; she thinks she looks fabulous on this color. Who am I to argue? It's still lying in the floor over there, so I wouldn't disturb Her Highness. Sigh. That explains so, so much.
Now I'm back to working on The Endless Project, but I've got to start something else today, another quicker, smaller project. The Endless Project is one I can work on only a little bit each day--I've discovered that working for hours and hours on something you know you're not going to finish any time soon is discouraging: I like to finish things. If it takes more than a week, it begins to bog down. If, though, I alternate it with something I can finish is a day or so--then it's OK, and I can keep the steam for the long haul.

It's supposed to get up to almost 80 this afternoon, so I'll have to work on something out on the porch this afternoon. There's a stack of old t-shirts, laundered and sorted by color, that need to be dis-assembled. That has to be done outdoors (cutting them up creates tons of lint-ish threads), so maybe I'll tackle them. Bleah. Not a fun thing to do, but it needs to be done, and nice weather makes it good.

So cute, the clothes are the sweet baby. In fact, I snorted at the picture and scared my sleeping cat off the keyboard.

Love both of the tops and your kitty, which looks like my Tink! They could be identical twins!

She thanks you. Can you see her doing that Prom Queen/Southern Belle/Queen of England Wave? You know: wrist, wrist, elbow, elbow. . . .

Love what you did with these little tops, and the kitty? Well, I am so allergic that I don't get the benefit of their feline supervision.

Love the shirts and your kitty is so sweet. I cleaned the fridge last week and could not believe the amount of cat hair that was in the recesses. Scary.
I know what you mean about long projects. I like instant gratification. I love to finish a project and enjoy it. Right now I am working on a project I thought I could wizz through, but I am at a point of tossing it aside after realizing I didn't have enough beads to finish and having to rip out a whole section. It is laying on my desk taunting me. LOL

It looks like the quality-control inspector approves!
I like the stitching/trim and button detail. I LOVE brick red.

Wow, I just noticed that you take the cretin stitch right out to the edges of the fabric strip. I have been sewing mine kind of right up the middle and for sure the edges are going to curl. Which I don't think I will like. We will see.
I think I am making the stitches smaller because that is my natural tendency but also because my thread is smaller.

Yes, I started going over the edge just so they wouldn't curl up as much. It's kind of a learning thing as you go along--mine has changed since I've been doing it.
